Those were the days when children played in the yard
Hid in tall fruit trees and carved our names in dirt and wood.
The days when Mama Lashy was the tyrant on loose
And cock up was a ten, tips was an out.
I remember the days when kids were kids and games were fun.
To be surrounded by cousins and aunts, even uncles
But no, no! The cock ups they did none.
Those days when Big Tree wasn't only a guinep tree
And when his friends would gather in the yard the gimmicks made some of us cry.
Imagine the days when Peter Pan, Cinderella and Lion King could never be missed
But how could we, when VCR was in and cassette stock "one on top a di ada?"
It wasn't all games and fun remember sis?
Oh how pickney coulda get lick.
I would cry and beg mommy when she sent Diego for your switch,
"Mommy please! I'll tek har lick."
It was a lot of us and everybody's name was it.
"Mi sen it ga shop fi buy salt and it come back wit sugar."
My aunts and uncles were the best and so were my cousins,
Each holding a special place in those memories.
